This summer, around 50 young Aquatic Warblers will find a new home in the Žuvintas Biosphere Reserve, Lithuania. The Aquatic Warbler is one of the rarest bird species in Europe. The conservation goal is to restore the small and declining Žuvintas population. An experienced team of ornithologists led by a specialist with extensive knowledge of insectivorous birds will take care of the birds. But love for nature alone won’t be enough—these little ones will need a lot, a lot of live food – insects.
We are looking for volunteers who want to become part of this unique conservation project and help catch insects to feed the chicks. You’ll be given an entomological net and help to “mow” the meadows to collect winged delicacies for our tiny protégés in the Žuvintas area. Assistance will also be needed in preparing artificially reared food.
This is not only a way to support nature but also a rare opportunity to witness the Aquatic Warbler translocation process up close, meet inspiring nature conservationists, and experience what it means to become a true wildlife hero.
📅 Volunteers will be needed from June 1 to July 1. You can join for a few days or a longer period. Ideally, we are looking for at least one full week of continuous volunteering.
Become a hero for Aquatic Warblers and help restore the population of this rare songbird in Lithuania.
