During the 2016 Aquatic warbler counts in Ukraine, 2010 – 2315 singing males were counted. Approximately 90% of Aquatic warbler males were counted in the Pripet region. Thus, these areas are the most important habitats for these rare birds in Ukraine.
Pripet – Stokhid National Park itself is rich in nature and cultural terms. There are educational trails in the park, but none of them are in Aquatic warbler area. As the park staff say, “It is quite difficult to reach habitats of Aquatic warbler. To hear or see these birds you would have to walk a few kilometers through the swamps, there are no hiking trails or roads”.
