Due to the war in Ukraine and European Union’s sanctions that entered into force, the activities of Aquatic Warbler conservation project in Belarus are suspended. We are happy that most of our activities, that have a positive effect on nature, have been accomplished before the war. Great results have been achieved in the most important Aquatic Warbler’s habitat in the world – in Zvaniec mire – where, thanks to the project, an opportunity to regulate the water level has been created, also, a significant part of the bog has been restored. We hope that the war would end up soon, it’s consequences for the most sensitive natural places would be as small as possible and that the songs of Aquatic Warbler would not stop in the swamps of Ukraine and Belarus. Meanwhile, an even greater responsibility for protecting this rare species from extinction rests with the countries of the European Union.
